Water for Windmill Farms residents is currently provided by the City of Forney. In 2004 the District and the City of Forney entered into an agreement to acquire surface water from the North Texas Municipal Water District’s Lake Lavon. This line was recently completed.
Wastewater treatment facilities for the area are currently located within the boundaries of the District according to a letter of understanding between Kaufman 1-B and the City of Forney. In the future, Windmill Farms wastewater will likely be treated by North Texas Municipal Water District at an offsite, regional facility.
The District contracts with Inframark to operate, maintain and manage the Kaufman 1-B’s facilities for the purpose of providing water, wastewater and ancillary services to residents of the District. These facilities are permitted and operated in accordance with regulations from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). The facilities are inspected and tested frequently, and reports are filed in compliance with TCEQ rules and regulations for public water and wastewater utilities in the State of Texas and applicable federal water supply requirements.
